The deceased individual was identified as Joel J. Rangel, according to a news release from La Salle County Coroner Rich Ploch. The incident took place at the intersection of North 23rd and East First roads near Cedar Point.
Authorities responded to the scene where they found a vehicle overturned, with both occupants ejected from the car. The female occupant was swiftly transferred to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Tragically, the male occupant, Joel J. Rangel, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:20 a.m.
Following the incident, a forensic investigative autopsy was carried out, revealing that the cause of death was related to the injuries sustained during the crash.
