GOWHAR MAQBOOL : “17-yr-old Hajin Youth Found in Jhelum River – Kashmir Reader”

In a heartbreaking turn of events, the lifeless body of 17-year-old Nadeem Zahoor was recovered from the depths of the River Jhelum in the Hajin area of Bandipora district. The incident unfolded on Friday following an extensive rescue mission led by the Indian Navy’s MARCOS unit and other emergency services.

The young boy met his untimely demise on Thursday while enjoying a bath in the river, prompting a swift response from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local Police, MARCOS, and the 13 Rashtriya Rifles (13RR). A joint operation was immediately launched to locate the missing youth, with efforts continuing late into the evening on Thursday.

Despite the initial challenges, the dedicated team of MARCOS operatives joined the search efforts early on Friday morning and successfully retrieved Nadeem’s body around 11:30 am. The community was deeply grateful for the relentless efforts put forth by the MARCOS unit in bringing closure to this tragic incident.

As the news of Nadeem’s passing spread throughout the area, locals and family members expressed their profound sorrow and gratitude towards the rescue teams. Being the sole brother to two sisters, Nadeem’s sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of many, evident by the mournful scenes witnessed as his body was returned home.
