Accident – Death – Obituary News :

ATLANTA, Ga. (WTVM) – The annual Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta was cancelled this year due to extreme heat conditions. However, amidst the cancellation, a high school student from Columbus managed to achieve a major accomplishment in the prestigious race.

Georgy Helmers, a talented runner and former student at Saint Anne Pacelli Catholic School, emerged victorious in the invitation-only Elite High Schools Girls section of the race. Helmers displayed exceptional skill and determination, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of approximately 37 minutes.

Despite the cancellation of the event and the issuance of a ‘black flag’ alert by race organisers due to dangerous heat levels, over 50,000 participants had set out to conquer the world’s longest 10K race. However, the extreme conditions did not deter Helmers and others from giving their best performance.

As the race progressed, approximately one thousand participants were still on the course when the ‘black flag’ alert was issued. These determined individuals persevered and completed the race, although their official results were not recorded due to the cancellation of the event.
