Evelyn Espino Galvez : “Car Theft Arrest: Woman Leads Police Chase”

Authorities in Cape Coral, Florida, were led on a chase after a woman stole a vehicle from a driveway in the area. The incident took place at approximately 5:45 p.m. on a Thursday evening, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

The victim, who was visiting a friend at the time, had left the vehicle running in the driveway. Upon returning, she witnessed the woman, later identified as 45-year-old Evelyn Espino Galvez, stealing the car and driving away.

When a CCPD officer spotted Galvez in the stolen vehicle, she attempted to flee by speeding away as the officer tried to initiate a traffic stop. Despite stop sticks being deployed to deflate the vehicle’s tires, Galvez continued to drive with officers in pursuit.

Galvez took evasive action by driving on the opposite side of the road and heading into Lee County. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase, using their aviation unit to track the stolen vehicle’s location.

As the pursuit continued, Galvez tried to change her appearance in an attempt to evade capture. However, she was apprehended by an LCSO deputy before she could escape.

Following her arrest, Galvez was taken to Lee County Jail and is now facing multiple charges. These include two counts of motor vehicle grand theft, one count of burglary of a conveyance, one count of fleeing and eluding police with disregard for the safety of persons or property, and one count of driving without a valid license.
