Doug Hayhurst, an enthusiastic cyclist from the UK, enjoys hitting the trails whenever the weather permits. However, a recent cycling trip took an unexpected turn, leaving the octogenarian limping his broken bike back to the car.

Hayhurst was navigating the old Grey Canal trail above Buchanan Road when disaster struck – the frame of his bike suddenly broke, causing it to collapse onto the rear wheel. Despite being just two kilometres away from his car, the active senior found himself in a predicament.

As Hayhurst was assessing the situation, a couple of fellow riders passed by and inquired about his well-being. Assuring them that he could make it back to his car, he continued his journey. However, fate had other plans.

Out of nowhere, a young couple returned to Hayhurst’s location. The young woman offered a heartwarming gesture, saying, “I’m willing to let you ride my bike and I’ll push yours.” Grateful for the unexpected act of kindness, Hayhurst accepted the offer and made his way back to his car on borrowed wheels.
