Two women and an 8-year-old boy tragically lost their lives in a devastating shooting incident that took place in Chicago’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The shooting took place at approximately 6:15 a.m. along South Woodlawn near 71st Street. Among the victims were an 8-year-old boy named Bryson Orr, his mother Nakeeisha Strong, and her granddaughter Capri Edwards. The gunfire shattered the windows of Nakeeisha’s home, claiming the lives of the three innocent victims.

Surviving Victims

Tragically, two other children, aged 5 and 7, were left in critical condition as a result of the shooting. The survivors were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Heartbreaking Loss

Frank Mixon, Nakeeisha’s teenage son, was present in the house when the gunmen arrived and opened fire. He described his mother as an incredible woman who worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Frank, a recent graduate and basketball standout at Comer College, received support from his coaches during this difficult time.
