SINGAPORE: A ceiling panel in the basement of Ion Orchard fell on Wednesday (July 3) evening, hitting a shopper on the head and causing her to sustain minor injuries.

The incident occurred at around 7.50pm at Basement 2 of the mall, as confirmed by a spokesperson for Ion Orchard.
Upon impact, a 24-year-old woman was attended to by a staff member and subsequently taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for medical treatment, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Currently, the woman is recovering at home, as stated by the Ion Orchard spokesperson.
The spokesperson mentioned, “We are in contact with the individual affected and will provide any necessary assistance.”
For safety reasons, the area where the incident occurred has been cordoned off to facilitate thorough checks and repair work.
Ion Orchard is actively investigating the cause of the incident and is committed to taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of all shoppers and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
