A 79-year-old health worker has been taken into custody and charged with a series of alleged historical sexual assaults that took place in Sydney. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, is accused of committing these offences in Sydney’s inner west.
Authorities from Leichhardt Police Area Command initiated Strike Force Carnell in March to investigate the alleged historical sexual assault of a patient by a male health practitioner. The incidents are said to have occurred between January 2012 and May 2019.
According to detectives, the man is believed to have indecently assaulted a male patient, who was between the ages of 40 and 47 at the time, at various health practices in Waverton, Kirribilli, Rozelle, and Balmain.
Following thorough investigations, the 79-year-old suspect was apprehended at Balmain Police Station. He has been issued a Court Attendance Notice and charged with five counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of aggravated sexual touching.
The accused was granted strict conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday, 23rd August 2024. Authorities urge anyone with information related to this case to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
