The events leading up to this shocking crime began in the early hours of Thursday morning when Lee County deputies responded to a call reporting shots fired at a residence on Smithville Road in Leesburg.
Upon arrival, deputies were met with gunfire coming from the house, prompting a standoff with the shooter, Tommy Clinton Jones. After a tense confrontation, Jones emerged from the home and was promptly taken into custody by law enforcement officers.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted an inquiry into the incident and determined that Jones was responsible for the death of his father. As a result, he is facing charges of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection to the tragic event.
