TYLER, Texas (KLTV/Gray News) – A Texas couple is eagerly awaiting their upcoming wedding after nearly a year of being together. What sets this love story apart is the unique way in which they met.
TJ Spangler and Autumn McElroy’s love story began during a blind date photo shoot session, where strangers are blindfolded and hold hands before revealing themselves to each other for the first time.
Reflecting on their fateful meeting, Autumn McElroy expressed, “Us meeting was truly a miracle in itself.”
For Spangler, the moment he locked eyes with Autumn after removing their blindfolds was a life-changing experience. “It may sound cliché, but the instant I saw her, I knew she was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” he shared.

Nearly a year later, Spangler popped the question to Autumn at Lake Tyler, the very place where their love story began during the blind date photo shoot.
“Returning to where it all started held a special significance for both of us. It felt like completing a circle,” Spangler explained.
Anita McElroy, the owner and photographer of A Sweet Day Photography, played a pivotal role in bringing the couple together through the blind date photo shoot session. Reflecting on their journey, Anita McElroy shared, “Everyone longs for a genuine connection, and that’s what I’ve witnessed through this experience.”
The couple acknowledges that their extraordinary connection wouldn’t have been possible if they had not taken the leap to participate in the blind date photo shoot. They hope their story inspires others to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new opportunities.
Reflecting on their journey, Autumn McElroy expressed, “That moment was truly ours. If we hadn’t chosen to go on that blind date, none of this would have happened. You never know what or who you might discover. I found my soulmate.”
The couple is currently planning their wedding, set to take place in November.
