HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Habersham County, Georgia, when a 15-year-old boy, Theodore “Teddy” Bone, tragically lost his life after a suspected drunken driver crashed into a church van. The young boy, Teddy, was put on life support following the collision and sadly passed away at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta, four days after the devastating crash.

According to reports by WANF, the fatal accident occurred when a Toyota 4Runner, driven by Barry Clark, ran a red light at the intersection of Demorest Mount Airy Highway and State Route 365 around 1:40 p.m. on a Saturday. The 4Runner collided with the church van, which was carrying Teddy and at least four other children. The driver, Barry Clark, was subsequently charged with driving under the influence.

Following the collision, Teddy suffered severe brain damage and was placed on life support. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Teddy succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.

Theodore “Teddy” Bone was described as a vibrant and energetic young boy with an infectious laugh by Isaac Weathers, the organizer of an online fundraiser set up to support the family with medical expenses. Teddy’s family made the compassionate decision to donate his organs, ensuring that even in death, Teddy’s legacy will live on by bringing life, love, and joy to others.

Friends of Teddy shared that his aspirations were as grand as his heart, with dreams of playing college basketball one day. Teddy, the youngest of 10 siblings, touched the lives of those around him with his zest for life and unwavering positivity.
