Accident – Death – Obituary News :

An Arizona mother is sending out a cautionary message to parents after a frightening incident at her home in Tolleson. Rosie Contreras was left shaken when her children’s ride-on toy truck suddenly caught fire, putting her family at risk.

On the fateful day of June 20, Contreras was at home with her 5-year-old twin boys, Emanuel and Xavier. The ride-on toy forklift that was meant to bring joy to her children on Christmas day turned into a hazard as it burst into flames outside their house.

The twins, who are deaf, blind, and nonverbal, were not playing with the toy at the time of the incident, which was a stroke of luck for the family. Contreras expressed immense relief that her boys were safe and sound.

According to AZ Family, the toy truck had been left outside for a few weeks before the fire broke out. The flames quickly spread, covering the window of the house, where the children were playing. The sight of the fire prompted the twins to bang on the window, alerting Contreras to the danger.

Contreras, visibly shaken by the incident, expressed her disbelief, saying, “It’s scary. I never thought that could happen.” She acted swiftly, evacuating her children from the house and calling 911. Within minutes, the window shattered, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Firefighters arrived promptly and extinguished the flames, but the damage had been done. The rechargeable battery in the toy truck was identified as the likely cause of the fire. Contreras, now aware of the potential dangers, advises parents to store battery-powered toys in cool places to prevent overheating.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Contreras took to GoFundMe to seek assistance for her family. With their home’s power shut off due to concerns about damaged electrical wiring, the family has been residing in a hotel for nearly two weeks. The financial strain has been immense, and Contreras hopes for support from the community during this challenging time.
