BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A flight bound for Manchester, New Hampshire, was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Buffalo after a 25-year-old man from Oregon allegedly exposed himself and urinated in the aisle of the airplane, according to officials.
The incident occurred mid-flight, prompting the pilot to divert the American Eagle flight to Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Upon landing, the man was promptly taken into custody and charged with indecent exposure.
Following an initial appearance in federal court in Buffalo, the man was released. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York issued a statement confirming the arrest and charges.
A spokesperson for American Airlines, which operates the American Eagle flight, issued a statement expressing gratitude towards the airline’s staff for their professionalism and passengers for their understanding during the disruptive incident.
According to the man’s statement to officers, he had consumed several whiskey and cola drinks before boarding the flight in Portland, Oregon. He continued to drink during a layover in Chicago and after boarding the connecting flight to Manchester. The individual claimed to have a medical condition that caused frequent urination, which led to the unfortunate incident.
