MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) – The Sigler family from Alabama is grieving the loss of their beloved Octavian Sigler, who tragically drowned in Honolulu, Hawaii.

At the age of 26, Octavian had been living his dream life in Hawaii for the past two years, where he had moved for work.

The devastating news of his death came when his body was discovered floating in the waters of Honolulu on a Sunday. Firefighters recovered his body, confirming that he had drowned in a diving accident.

His sister, Latonya Sigler, expressed her concern when she failed to hear from Octavian and filed a missing person report. Sadly, their fears were confirmed when a bystander found Octavian’s body in the water.

Currently, Octavian’s body remains in Honolulu, over 4,000 miles away from his family in Mobile, Alabama. The family is facing not only the emotional toll of his sudden passing but also the financial burden of bringing him home.

Latonya Sigler explained, “Bringing him home involves getting him on a plane, shipping him to Pensacola, and then arranging for a funeral home in Mobile to receive him. We are determined to give Octavian the homegoing celebration he deserves.”

Octavian Sigler, affectionately known as “Wavy O” for his love of the ocean, had moved to Honolulu in 2022 for contract work. He had recently obtained his diving certification, reflecting his passion for the sea.

His younger sister, Latavia Jones, shared, “He found peace in the water. He loved it, that was his environment.”

To support the Sigler family in bringing Octavian home, a GoFundMe page has been set up.
