A flight from Buffalo, New York to Manchester, New Hampshire took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when a 25-year-old man from Oregon allegedly exposed himself and urinated in the aisle of the airplane, leading to his arrest and charges of indecent exposure.
The incident occurred on an American Eagle flight which was diverted to Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The man was taken into custody upon landing and later released after appearing in federal court in Buffalo, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.
According to a statement from American Airlines, the flight resumed its journey to Manchester shortly after the incident. The airline expressed gratitude towards their team members for their professionalism and their customers for their understanding.
Upon questioning by authorities, the man admitted to consuming several whiskey and cola drinks before and during the flight, as well as during a layover in Chicago. He claimed to have a medical condition that caused him to urinate frequently, leading to the unfortunate incident.
Efforts to seek a comment from his federal public defender were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
