Authorities have identified the individual who tragically passed away over the weekend at the Modesto Reservoir as 63-year-old Michael Sorensen from Hughson. According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. on June 29 when a kayak carrying two individuals capsized. Sorensen managed to make it back to shore with his kayaking companion, but unfortunately, he did not survive. Deputies attempted to administer CPR to Sorensen, but their efforts were in vain as he was not wearing a life vest at the time of the accident.
