PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Arkansas State Police have launched an investigation into a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a young woman on Wednesday night.
Reports indicate that the victim, identified as 19-year-old Kalei Owen from Bentonville, was struck by a vehicle after emerging from the woods and entering the roadway on Interstate 530 in Jefferson County.
Authorities are now seeking assistance from the public to identify the driver responsible for the fatal collision. The vehicle in question is believed to be a red Honda, although the specific model remains unknown. It is likely to exhibit damage on the front, passenger side and may be missing a fog light.
The last known sighting of the vehicle occurred around 10:00 p.m. as it travelled north on I-530 near exit 27.
Owen’s body has been transferred to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for a thorough examination to determine the precise cause and manner of her untimely death.
