Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Cleveland community is in mourning following the tragic death of 27-year-old Cleveland police officer Jamieson Ritter, who was fatally shot in the line of duty during the overnight hours of Thursday. Ritter was one of the officers who responded to a call regarding a male wanted for a felonious assault from a local suburb on the 1500 block of East 80th Street. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old De’Lawnte Hardy, attempted to flee on a bicycle and fired multiple shots at the officers, striking Ritter.

Cleveland Police Chief Annie Todd provided details of the incident, stating that Ritter was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Hardy has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder in connection with Ritter’s death.

Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb expressed his heartbreak over the loss of Officer Ritter and pledged full support for the investigation to ensure that justice is served.
