Union City Teen Found Safe at Harter Park

Union City – In a heartwarming turn of events on July 4, 2024, the Union City Police Department swiftly responded to a distress call from a 17-year-old juvenile female at Harter Park. The young girl, who had been reported as a runaway/missing person from Darke County, Ohio just two days prior, bravely reached out to law enforcement for help.

Upon their prompt arrival at Harter Park, officers were able to locate the juvenile along with an adult male, later identified as Jamey Deeter. The young girl recounted how Deeter had picked her up in Darke County, Ohio on July 2, 2024, and brought her all the way to Union City, Indiana, where he left her at Harter Park. Despite being aware that she was reported as a runaway/missing person and that law enforcement was actively searching for her, Deeter still agreed to drop her off at the park.

Following this revelation, Deeter was promptly placed under arrest. However, during the arrest, he suffered an anxiety attack induced by the handcuffs and was subsequently taken to St. Vincent Randolph Emergency Department for urgent evaluation. Once cleared by medical professionals, Deeter was then transported to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Jail where he was officially placed into custody. Meanwhile, the female juvenile was safely returned to Darke County, Ohio, where she could receive the support and care she needed.
