PORTLAND, Oregon — A man has been convicted of murder in connection with a 2022 shooting in Northeast Portland that resulted in one fatality, one injury, and a third individual being shot. The Multnomah County Prosecutor’s Office announced that a jury found Isai Ramos Damian, 24 years old, guilty of second-degree murder and other charges on Wednesday. He was apprehended in Gresham by US Marshals in February 2023.

The victim of the fatal shooting was identified by the Portland Police Bureau as 42-year-old Gladis Mendoza-Hernandez. The tragic incident took place on July 6, 2022, when officers responded to reports of a shooting near East Burnside Street and Northeast 148th Avenue at 11:22 p.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered Mendoza-Hernandez deceased at the scene and another male victim, Brandon Dunn, with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. Dunn was promptly transported to a nearby hospital and subsequently discharged.

Additionally, Ricardo Torres was also shot by Damian Ramos as he allegedly fired upon all three individuals from his vehicle. The extent of Torres’ injuries remains undisclosed. A 12-person jury found Damian Ramos guilty of second-degree murder with a firearm, second-degree assault with a firearm, four counts of unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm.

Ramos Damian is currently in custody in Multnomah County and is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12.
