In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 3:19 am, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing call regarding a shooting incident at Bootleggers Bar and Grill. The responders rushed to the scene and were met with a harrowing sight – 19-year-old Colby Nelson, lying motionless on the ground with a fatal gunshot wound to his head. Tragically, Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.

37-year-old Alan Schultz was quickly identified as the suspect, standing near the victim’s body against an SUV. When questioned by officials, Schultz admitted to being the shooter. Eyewitnesses at the scene also corroborated Schultz’s involvement in the tragic event. Following this revelation, Schultz was promptly taken into custody by law enforcement.

Investigations into the incident revealed a prior altercation between Schultz and Nelson inside the bar earlier that evening. The disagreement seemingly escalated, leading Schultz to leave the premises on his motorcycle. However, he returned to the bar later, armed with a loaded handgun after retrieving it from his residence. Schultz then approached Nelson, who was sitting in a truck parked outside the bar, and fatally shot him in the face before calmly surrendering to the authorities.

In light of the evidence gathered, Schultz has been formally charged with Murder in the First Degree, pending further legal proceedings.
