The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday morning, with Taylor County dispatchers receiving multiple calls reporting the shooting at around 3:20 a.m.

Deputies swiftly responded to the scene at Bootleggers Bar and Grill on Broadway Street in Clearfield. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim lying on the ground, unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the head. The reporting deputy encountered a man near the victim’s body, later identified as the suspect. This individual allegedly confessed to being the shooter and was promptly detained by the deputy.

Witnesses present at the scene corroborated the events, stating that they had witnessed the suspect fatally shoot 19-year-old Colby Nelson of Lenox. It was revealed that Nelson and the suspect had a prior disagreement at the bar, which escalated into a heated argument when the suspect attempted to leave.

The suspect, identified as Alan Schultz, aged 37 and hailing from Bedford, reportedly left the bar on his motorcycle before returning in a different vehicle armed with a loaded handgun.
