A man from Las Vegas has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and child abuse following the tragic death of his girlfriend’s one-year-old son. The incident has shocked the local community and raised questions about child safety and domestic violence.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a distressing call on June 1 reporting that a one-year-old child was unresponsive and not breathing. The child was rushed to the Summerlin Pediatrics Emergency Room, where medical professionals discovered multiple brain bleeds and a broken leg. Despite efforts to save him, the child tragically passed away at Sunrise Hospital three days later.

The accused, Christian Moniz Rabino, admitted to police that he is not the biological father of the child but had been in the child’s life for the past six months as he was dating the child’s mother, Tautiana. According to the arrest report, Moniz Rabino claimed that the child had been unwell with a fever for several days before the incident occurred. He alleged that he was giving the child a bath to cool him down when the child suddenly stopped breathing.

Further investigations revealed disturbing details about the child’s injuries. Tautiana disclosed that the child had fallen off a bed and bumped his head two days prior to the incident but had not sought medical attention. The couple also admitted that the child had previously experienced seizures and had been seen by doctors, who had not raised any concerns.

During an autopsy, the medical examiner discovered extensive bruising on the child’s body, including broken bones in his legs and hand. The examiner concluded that the cause of death was likely due to abusive trauma, with evidence of non-accidental injuries consistent with shaking and rapid acceleration.

Additional interviews with Tautiana’s best friend revealed concerns about Tautiana’s relationship with Moniz Rabino, with reports of previous incidents of domestic violence. Tautiana herself admitted to police that she had overlooked signs of abuse and failed to protect her children, expressing remorse and acknowledging the need for help.

Christian Moniz Rabino is currently in custody at the Clark County Detention Center, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 7. The case has sparked outrage and calls for justice in the local community, as authorities continue to investigate the tragic death of the young child.
