Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Residents and visitors in Fayetteville may have noticed an eye-catching display of red, white, and blue at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center as the health system recently unveiled a new high-tech external light system on the $110 million Valley Pavilion under construction. According to Brian Pearce, the vice president of Operations and Development, the activation of these lights signifies a significant completion milestone for the Valley Pavilion expansion. Pearce stated in a news release, “The exterior is now complete, and we will be taking down the last crane next week.”

The lights are programmed to illuminate the building each evening 30 minutes before sunset and are turned off at midnight. Pearce expressed excitement about the potential to use the lights to raise awareness for different causes and holidays, mentioning plans to light up the building in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month or in red for Heart Month.

Once the internal portion of the expansion is finished early next year, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center will gain an additional 92 beds, including 44 adult intensive care unit beds, bringing the total number of adult ICU beds to 85 and adult step-down beds to 106. This expansion will increase the medical center’s bed capacity to 762. Moreover, the pavilion features two helipads with access for a military Black Hawk helicopter.

Changes to Downtown Parking Regulations

Effective July 1, downtown parking regulations were adjusted following unanimous approval by the Fayetteville City Council. The parking enforcement hours were reduced from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the aim of creating a more welcoming and accessible environment for residents, visitors, and businesses in the downtown area. Parking in public spaces is now free on federal holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays, except during special events such as baseball games.

However, it is unlikely to happen at this late stage in the election process.
