A tragic incident unfolded in Kericho County as a 34-year-old man who went missing on Sunday was found dead, sending shockwaves through the community of Kipyemit village in Londiani Sub County.
The deceased, identified as Gilbert Kiprotich Rono, was discovered floating in a water pan in the neighbouring Bariit village, according to local police reports.
Assistant Chief John Langat of the area confirmed the sad news, revealing that Rono had disappeared on Sunday morning, leaving his family in a state of anxiety and worry.
“Family members initially believed that he had gone to church on Sunday morning, but when he failed to return home, concerns grew among the locals,” said Langat.
The family reported Rono’s disappearance to the Chepseon police station on Monday, prompting a search operation to locate their missing loved one.
It was during this search that residents fetching water made the grim discovery of Rono’s body floating in the water, leading to the alert being raised.
Authorities from the Chepseon police station swiftly moved the body to the Londiani Sub County Hospital mortuary as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
