TYLER, Texas (KLTV/Gray News) – A Texas couple is eagerly anticipating their upcoming wedding after nearly a year of dating. However, what sets their love story apart is the unconventional way they first met.

TJ Spangler and Autumn McElroy’s romance blossomed after they crossed paths during a blind date photo shoot session. This distinctive event involved two strangers holding hands blindfolded before unveiling their identities to each other.

Reflecting on their serendipitous encounter, Autumn McElroy shared with KLTV, “Us meeting was a miracle in itself.”

For Spangler, the moment he locked eyes with Autumn was transformative. He recounted, “It sounds cliche, but as soon as we took our blindfolds off and I looked into her eyes, I knew she was going to be the woman I was going to spend the rest of my life with.”

Nearly a year later, Spangler proposed to Autumn McElroy at Lake Tyler, the very location where their love story began during the blind date photo shoot.

Explaining the significance of the proposal setting, Spangler remarked, “It held a significance, not only to me but to her, as well. It meant a lot to us to bring it around circle, if that makes sense, to finish it here where it started.”

Reflecting on their special moment, Anita McElroy noted, “Everyone wants to find a genuine connection. That’s what I’ve learned through this.”

Reflecting on their journey, Autumn McElroy expressed, “That was our moment. If we hadn’t chosen that day, if we hadn’t gone on the blind date, if we hadn’t done any of that, this wouldn’t have happened. You never know who or what you’re going to find. I found my husband.”

The couple is currently planning their wedding, scheduled for November.
