Local law enforcement authorities have taken into custody a Trinidad resident in connection with a recent shooting incident in northeast Trinidad.

The arrest comes after a thorough investigation by the Trinidad Police Department following a shooting that took place in the 500 block of West Baca Street on Sunday, June 9, as reported by TPD officials.

Suspect Identification

Adam Scott Martin-Fejes, aged 32, was apprehended by the Trinidad Police Department on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and felony assault, based on an affidavit seeking an arrest warrant filed in Las Animas County District Court.

Arrest

Officials stated that Martin-Fejes was arrested on June 21 around 4:15 p.m. following the shooting incident.

Incident Description

According to police reports, Martin-Fejes allegedly shot the victim after a verbal altercation between the two individuals.

Victim’s Status

The victim, identified as 32-year-old Christopher William Crawford from Walsenburg, sustained injuries during the shooting and was promptly transported to Mt. San Rafael Hospital for medical treatment. Crawford was discharged from the hospital the following day.

Additional Circumstances

Witnesses reported that Martin-Fejes and other individuals were gathered at 513 West Baca Street in Trinidad before the shooting occurred. Martin-Fejes left the residence and encountered the victim, leading to the violent incident.

Witness Accounts

Multiple 911 calls were made by witnesses who observed the altercation between Martin-Fejes and Crawford, indicating that the suspect approached the victim’s vehicle before the shooting ensued.

Legal Proceedings

Martin-Fejes was booked into the Las Animas County Detention Center on a cash-only bond of $100,000, facing charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Current Status

As of July 2, Martin-Fejes remains in custody at the Las Animas County Detention Center, according to official jail records.
