In a separate incident on the same day, Mesa Police officers intercepted a person selling illegal aerial fireworks in Chandler.

Following the issuance of a search warrant, officers were able to access storage containers in Chandler believed to contain illegal fireworks. The search uncovered nine 40-foot shipping containers filled with 2,147 boxes of illegal fireworks, stacked on 95 pallets and requiring four semi-truck loads to transport. The estimated value of the fireworks seized exceeds $1,000,000, according to Mesa Police.

Concerned residents are encouraged to report any illegal firework activity to Mesa Police through the non-emergency number (480) 644-2211 or via email at FIREWORKS@mesaaz.gov. In urgent situations, individuals should dial 911 for immediate assistance.

Recent Crackdowns on Illegal Fireworks

This recent enforcement operation is part of a broader effort to combat the illegal sale and use of fireworks in the area. Just a few days ago, Chandler Police seized almost $10,000 worth of illegal fireworks from a vendor along Chandler Boulevard. Similarly, Glendale Police confiscated several hundred pieces of illegal fireworks in separate locations within the city.

“The quantity of confiscated fireworks was substantial, enough to fill four pickup truck beds,” Glendale Police stated at the time.
