Authorities have ruled out foul play in the death of Ronaldo Watson, a 25-year-old procurement manager and University of Guyana student, whose body was discovered in his Lot 17 First Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara apartment.
Watson, who had been living alone in the upper flat of a two-storey building for the past five years, was last seen alive on June 25. According to a female friend, he had been complaining of flu-like symptoms, including headaches and vomiting, in the days leading up to his death.
Concerned when they were unable to reach him, Watson’s two aunts, Beverly Watson and Gail Watson, who reside overseas, contacted the female friend on June 27 and asked her to check on their nephew.
Upon entering the apartment, the friend found Watson unresponsive. Emergency services were called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police investigation into Watson’s death is ongoing, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Friends and family have expressed shock and sadness at the untimely passing of Watson, describing him as a dedicated student and a hardworking professional.
