A heartbreaking incident occurred in north Phoenix when a 1-year-old boy was discovered unconscious in a backyard pool. The child was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene on Villa Maria Drive near the intersections of 27th Avenue and Union Hills Drive at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, Phoenix Fire officials found CPR already in progress on the young boy.
Phoenix police officers joined the efforts of the firefighters in administering CPR to the child. Despite their best attempts, the toddler could not be revived and was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital.
