An Oil City woman is facing serious charges after allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old girl and kicking a police officer during a domestic dispute on Sunday morning in Venango County, Pennsylvania.
Nicole Lee Jones, a 41-year-old resident of Oil City, was arrested by the Oil City Police Department (OCPD) on June 30 following the incident that took place at a residence on Colbert Avenue.
According to court documents, OCPD officers responded to a call about a domestic dispute at the residence around 10:45 a.m. The dispatcher informed the officers that Jones was involved in a physical altercation with a male juvenile at the scene.
Upon arriving at the scene, Lt. Jonathan Love encountered Jones, who was reportedly agitated and behaving erratically. The officers observed injuries on Jones, including cuts on her hands and blood on her shirt.
It was revealed that the victim of the assault was a 15-year-old girl who sustained injuries from the altercation. Jones allegedly punched the girl in the face, pulled her hair, and bit her multiple times.
When Lt. Love attempted to detain Jones, she resisted and refused to comply with orders. She had to be physically restrained and subdued by the officers, during which she kicked Lt. Love twice.
Following the incident, Jones was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault, and harassment. She was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Venango County Prison.
A preliminary hearing for Jones is scheduled to take place on July 10 in Venango County Central Court.
This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in maintaining public safety and dealing with individuals who engage in violent behaviour.
