Over the weekend, Limestone Coast Police were busy detecting several traffic offences in the region, with a focus on the notorious “fatal five” violations that pose a significant risk to road safety.

Additionally, a 34-year-old man from Mount Gambier was found to have traces of both amphetamines and cannabis in his system, resulting in a three-month loss of licence.

Furthermore, a 37-year-old man from Naracoorte was caught with a blood alcohol reading of 0.056 and is set to be summonsed to appear in court for his offence.

A spokesperson from SAPOL issued a stern warning to motorists, especially as winter approaches in the region.

“Police are urging all road users to exercise caution and drive safely, particularly during the winter months when adverse weather conditions are prevalent across the Limestone Coast,” the spokesperson emphasised.

“Make sure to turn on your lights for visibility, adhere to speed limits, and adjust your driving according to the prevailing weather conditions to ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road.”
