AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A resident of Staunton is currently receiving treatment in hospital after a high-speed chase involving law enforcement officers last week.

Lieutenant Leslie Snyder released a statement revealing that the incident took place at approximately 8 a.m. on Friday morning in the vicinity of the 200 block of Balsley Road to the east of Staunton. The confrontation began when deputies were called to the scene to investigate reports of a disruptive individual.

Upon the deputies’ arrival, the individual in question, identified as Michael David Keys Senior, fled the area in a 2002 Chevrolet truck. Despite attempts by law enforcement to signal the driver to stop, Keys refused to comply, leading to a pursuit that culminated in the truck overturning after a collision.

Following the crash, Keys was transported to Augusta Health for medical attention. He now faces multiple charges, including felony evasion of law enforcement and driving under the influence.
