The recent labour dispute at WestJet, which has resulted in widespread flight cancellations and left numerous passengers stranded across Canada, has had little effect on operations at Windsor International Airport (YQG).

Mark Galvin, the President and CEO of YQG, has confirmed that the airport’s sole WestJet route to and from Calgary remains unaffected by the ongoing strike.

Currently, Windsor International Airport sees three WestJet flights departing each week, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

To ensure smooth travel plans, Galvin recommends that passengers flying out of YQG check their flight status online prior to arrival at the airport.

“We always advise passengers to stay updated on their flight status to ensure they have the most recent information,” he emphasised.

It is important to note that travellers from Windsor who have connecting flights in Calgary or those who opt to drive to alternate airports for their flights will not benefit from YQG’s current immunity to the WestJet strike.

WestJet has indicated its intention to resume normal flight operations by the week’s end, bringing relief to affected passengers and restoring regular travel schedules.
