The Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully apprehended a man who was declared a ‘proclaimed offender’ in a rape case. The accused, identified as 26-year-old Kamal Singh alias Pahadi, was also wanted in an attempt to murder case. Additionally, he is known to be involved in two cases of murder, making him a significant threat to public safety.
The incident dates back to last year when a minor girl was abducted and raped by two men at a vacant place while she was returning home. Subsequently, the accused, along with two other men, sexually assaulted the victim at a different location. Despite the arrest of four suspects in the case, Kamal managed to evade capture and was declared a ‘Proclaimed Offender’ by the court.
Furthermore, Kamal was also involved in a shootout in Ghevra where he fired two rounds at a complainant’s house, resulting in a woman sustaining a gunshot injury. Although one of the accused, Faizan alias Nanhe alias Kalu, was apprehended following an exchange of fire with the police, Kamal continued to evade the authorities.
Acting on an input received on June 16 regarding the whereabouts of the absconding accused, the Delhi Police Crime Branch formed a dedicated team led by Inspector Sandeep Swami. The team, comprising SI Sukhvinder Singh, SI Ravi Saini, and others under the supervision of ACP Narender Singh, successfully apprehended Kamal Singh alias Pahadi.

During interrogation, Kamal confessed to his involvement in the abduction and rape of the minor girl from Swaroop Nagar, as well as the shootout in Ghevra. He revealed that he had been evading arrest by constantly changing locations to avoid detection by law enforcement.
With the arrest of Kamal Singh alias Pahadi, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has made significant progress in addressing violent crimes in the city and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.
