On the morning of Monday, a tragic accident took place on Interstate 95 near the Gray-Cumberland line in Maine. Justin Nsenga, a 49-year-old man from Old Orchard Beach, lost his life after a tire detached from a pickup truck and struck his car.

The incident occurred when Nsenga was driving his 2018 Mercedes sedan southbound on the highway. A rear, driver’s-side tire from a 2021 GMC Sierra, which was travelling north while towing a camping trailer, came loose and crossed over the median. The loose tire crashed into Nsenga’s sedan, causing the fatal accident, according to a statement released by the Maine State Police.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, identified as 43-year-old Jean-Francois Chartrand from Saint-Hubert, Quebec, was unharmed in the incident, along with his four passengers. The focus of the investigation now lies with the Maine State Police, who are urging any witnesses to come forward and provide information that could assist in determining the cause of the accident.
