An Auburn resident, James Clayton Langford III, has been indicted on charges related to financial crimes against an elderly person in Lee County, Alabama. The Lee Country District Attorney’s Office and the Alabama Securities Commission issued a joint statement confirming the indictment.

Langford, aged 50, voluntarily surrendered to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office following an indictment by a grand jury in Lee County. The charges against him include one count of aggravated theft by deception and one count of first-degree financial exploitation of an elderly individual.

Authorities allege that Langford, in his capacity as a trustee for an investment account belonging to a 60-year-old Alabama resident, misappropriated funds exceeding $200,000 for personal gain. The indictment outlines the specifics of the financial improprieties committed by Langford.

Currently, Langford is free on bond, and an arraignment date has yet to be scheduled. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from two to 20 years for the charges brought against him.
