FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A quick-thinking tourist in Flagler County is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a two-year-old boy from potential danger.

Deputies were called to the scene near the condominiums at 54 Club House Drive in Palm Coast, where they found the child wandering unattended in a roadway. The toddler, wearing only blue onesie pajamas and a soiled diaper, was discovered by a vacationer visiting the area.

The tourist stayed with the child in hopes of locating a parent but eventually contacted the sheriff’s office for assistance. Deputies arrived and took the child to their district office while alerting the Department of Children and Families.

After a search of the complex, deputies located a condo unit with an open front door. Inside, they found 22-year-old Isabella Tucci, who admitted to being the child’s mother. Tucci claimed she had last seen her son at 2 a.m. before falling asleep and neglecting to check on him.

Deputies noted the potential hazards in the condo, including unlocked doors, a second-floor location with a stairway, and a nearby canal. They also observed open containers of alcohol, trash, and food on the floors.

Tucci confessed to recent drug use, testing positive for THC and Methadone. The child was taken into custody by DCF, who initiated a Safe Parenting Plan for his well-being.

Tucci was arrested and charged with neglect of a child without great bodily harm. She has since been released on bond.
