A 22-year-old Mother Arrested in Florida After 2-Year-Old Son Found Wandering Alone

A 22-year-old mother in Florida has been taken into custody following an incident where her 2-year-old son was discovered wandering the streets alone for several hours.

Isabella R. Tucci was arrested on Monday and charged with neglect of a child without causing great bodily harm, as per court documents examined by Law&Crime.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a condominium complex in Palm Coast, Florida, after receiving a report of a juvenile incident. The incident took place on July 1 at around 9:17 a.m. in the 100 block of Club House Drive.

The child, identified as “MP” in court records, was first discovered by a vacationing woman from Connecticut around 9 a.m. The woman stayed with the toddler for 15 minutes hoping to locate a parent before calling 911.

Upon arrival, deputies found the child wearing a soiled diaper and a blue onesie pajama outfit. The boy was unable to provide his name or his parents’ information, although he could communicate with the deputies.

Deputies Locate the Child’s Mother

After a search, deputies found an open door in the complex and woke up the occupant, later identified as Tucci. The condo was just 200 yards from where the child was found, posing various hazards including a nearby water canal and heavy traffic.

Tucci informed deputies that she had last seen her son at 2 a.m. when she put him to sleep. She mentioned that the boy had recently learned to unlock doors, causing her some trouble. However, she had not taken any precautionary measures such as installing child-proof locks.

The affidavit noted the condition of the condo, describing it as cluttered with trash and food on the floors, along with open containers of alcohol.

Mother Charged with Felony Neglect

Isabella R. Tucci was arrested and charged with Felony Neglect Child without Great Bodily Harm due to her failure to provide adequate care and supervision for her 2-year-old son.

Sheriff Rick Staly commented on the incident, expressing concern for the child’s safety and emphasizing the importance of securing homes and child-proofing. He hoped that the mother would receive the necessary help to improve her situation.
