The victim, identified as Hailey Mason from Salt Lake City, found herself in distress while on the water, prompting bystanders to call 911 in a desperate bid to save her.
Despite the courageous efforts of onlookers who attempted to reach Mason as she cried out for help, the young woman succumbed to the unforgiving depths of the reservoir, disappearing beneath the surface without resurfacing.
Search and rescue operations were swiftly initiated, with teams from Salt Lake and Wasatch counties, as well as Utah State Park rangers, rallying together to locate Mason’s body. Using advanced sonar technology, three boats scoured the reservoir until they successfully recovered her remains.
