Accident – Death – Obituary News :

WAYNE COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – In a surprising turn of events, first-degree murder charges against a suspect in Wayne County have been dismissed following a preliminary hearing. The judge presiding over the case determined that there was not enough evidence to proceed with the charges.

The suspect, Drexler Johnson, had been held at the Wayne County Jail for over two weeks in connection with the death of 53-year-old John Harris Walker, Jr. Walker’s body was discovered on June 17 near the 300 block of Clara West Road in Wayne County.

Initially, the sheriff’s office had reported that Walker had been shot. However, a preliminary autopsy revealed that the fatal injury was actually a puncture wound.

Although the charges have been dismissed, the case remains open for potential further prosecution pending review by a grand jury.
