CHICAGO – A Chicago man has been taken into custody six months after a violent incident on Christmas Day 2023 in the city’s South Lawndale neighborhood.
The arrest comes after a thorough investigation by the Chicago Police Department into a brutal assault that took place in the 2800 block of S. Kostner Avenue.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 19-year-old Denes Villareal, who has been accused of being one of the individuals responsible for attacking and causing serious injuries to a 25-year-old man.
Villareal was apprehended on Monday in the 3100 block of W. Harrison Street and has since been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and attempted robbery.
He is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on Wednesday to determine his bail status and further legal proceedings.
