Authorities in Mukono district have apprehended a man suspected of brutally hacking a 4-year-old boy to death in Takajjunge village. The suspect, identified as Dauda Jjumba, is currently in police custody as investigations into the heinous crime continue.

The tragic incident unfolded last week, sending shockwaves through the community. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a stranger scaling over a perimeter wall in the area. A frantic chase ensued, leading to the discovery of a blood-stained knife in a bag that the suspect had discarded.

Following the discovery of the knife, residents of the village raised alarm as a child from a neighbouring community was reported missing. Tragically, the body of young Adam Matovu was later found dumped in a pit latrine, sparking outrage and disbelief among locals.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, confirmed the arrest of Dauda Jjumba in connection with the horrific crime. Owoyesigyire stated, “We have apprehended one suspect, Dauda Jjumba, who is assisting us in the ongoing investigation. We have recovered crucial evidence, including the bag, knife, and samples of suspected blood stains. These items will be analysed by forensic experts to determine the extent of the suspect’s involvement in this tragic incident.”
