Smith was released on bail on February 28th after posting $255,000. During the court appearance on Wednesday, Senior Judge David Gibson scheduled a new hearing for August. This was not the first time such an incident occurred in this case. In a previous hearing in January, another man, identified as Post’s partner, had a confrontation with a family member of Smith’s, resulting in a physical altercation that required police intervention.

Outside the courthouse, a group of grieving women gathered, wearing black clothing and ribbons in the favorite colors of the victims. One of the attendees, Brianna Immel, a friend of Post’s, expressed her disappointment in the legal system, stating that it should not be so easy for individuals like Smith to walk free after causing such devastation.
