MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A 20-year-old Mobile resident, Alonzo Jared Collier-Newsome, has been taken into custody and charged with murder following an investigation by the Mobile Police Department. The arrest was made on Tuesday and the suspect is currently in Mobile County Metro Jail.

The incident in question occurred on May 17, when authorities responded to a distress call at the Steak N Shake located at 3125 Government Blvd. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male individuals inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Tragically, one of the victims, identified as 19-year-old Tramell Williams, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Further investigations by law enforcement revealed that the shooting took place earlier in the evening at 601 Village Green Drive E. In addition to the murder charge, Collier-Newsome is facing charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

The arrest of Collier-Newsome serves as a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the tragic events of that fateful night in May. The Mobile Police Department continues to work diligently to bring justice to the victims and their families.
