Yandie Martinez : “Yandie Martinez Identified as Haverstraw Shooting Suspect”

HAVERSTRAW, New York (WABC) — Authorities in Haverstraw have named 18-year-old Yandie Martinez as the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Christian Alvarado on Monday.

Martinez is currently at large and considered armed and dangerous, with police urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Haverstraw police at 845-354-1500.

The tragic incident took place near the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and West Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. Responding officers discovered Alvarado with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, lying on the sidewalk next to a crashed vehicle.

Despite being rushed to Nyack Hospital, Alvarado succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time.

Photos of Martinez, along with his distinctive tattoos, have been released by the police in hopes of soliciting information from the public to aid in his apprehension.
