In a shocking incident in Florida, a man suspected of carjacking a mother after a car accident was caught on camera leaving her 3-year-old toddler daughter on the side of the road. The man, identified as Willio Petioma, 35, is now in police custody.
The incident took place in Oakland Park, Florida, located around 34 miles north of Miami. The Broward Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip that led to the arrest of Petioma on Sunday.

Details of the Incident
The carjacking took place on June 26, at nearly 8:30 a.m., according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The mother and her daughter were involved in a car accident before the carjacking occurred.
As the mother stepped out of her car to exchange information with the other driver, an unknown man suddenly got into her car and drove off with the toddler still in the backseat, as reported by the police.
The mother desperately clung to the passenger-side door, shouting that her child was in the car. Despite her pleas, the man continued to drive, dragging the mother along until she fell to the ground.
Moments later, surveillance footage captured the suspect removing the child from the car and leaving her on the sidewalk in her car seat.
The suspect was also seen abandoning the stolen car and using the victim’s credit card at a nearby Family Dollar store.
Charges against the Suspect
Willio Petioma is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident, including:
- Kidnapping
- Carjacking
- Interfering with custody of a minor
- Illegal use of a credit card
In addition to these charges, Petioma was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of cocaine and resisting an officer in Palm Beach County, located approximately 53 miles north of Broward County.
