An elderly woman was reportedly pushed towards an oncoming train at Powell Street Station on Monday night, resulting in her tragic death.
Incident Details
The incident occurred at around 11:06 pm on Monday night at Powell Street Station. The victim, a 74-year-old woman, was standing on the BART platform when she was allegedly pushed by another individual into an oncoming, Millbrae-bound train. The force of the impact caused the woman to hit her head and fall onto the platform.
Suspect Arrested
BART police acted swiftly and managed to arrest a 49-year-old man on the train platform shortly after the incident. The suspect, identified as Trevor Belmont (also known as Hoak Taing), is reportedly homeless and transient.
Victim’s Outcome
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The suspect has since been booked into SF County Jail on charges of murder and inflicting injury on an elderly adult likely to cause great bodily harm.

Investigation Ongoing
BART police are currently reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and processing evidence to determine the motive behind the attack. It is unclear at this stage whether Belmont had any prior connection to the victim.
