Hawaii Island police are currently investigating the tragic incident of a 53-year-old man from Colorado who was found unresponsive at Kehena Beach in lower Puna on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Timothy Zedalis of Denver, was pulled from the water by bystanders who immediately administered CPR before Hawaii Fire Department medics arrived on the scene.
Emergency Response and Pronouncement of Death
The Puna patrol officers were alerted to the situation at approximately 8:13 a.m. Following the efforts of the bystanders and medics, Zedalis was transported to the Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was sadly pronounced dead. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and authorities have initiated a coroner’s inquest investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

At this stage, law enforcement officials do not suspect foul play in relation to Zedalis’ passing.
