Reports from authorities and neighbours suggest that a sudden storm swept through parts of the state on Sunday, leaving behind devastation in its wake.
The aftermath of the storm in Severn is marked by a melted fence, a stark reminder of the fatal incident that occurred.
According to firefighters in Anne Arundel County, a tree toppled during the storm, bringing down live power lines which landed on the metal fence. This caused the fence to become electrified, resulting in the tragic deaths of the man and his dog.
The 31-year-old man and his dog tragically lost their lives in this rare and unforeseen event.
Steven Bishop, from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, stressed the importance of caution in such situations. “Never trust a fallen wire. If you spot one, do not touch it or attempt to cross over it,” said Bishop. “It is crucial to immediately alert the authorities to the presence of live wires.”
On Disney Avenue in Severn, another incident occurred as a tree limb crashed onto a home, rendering it unsafe.
Neighbour Jennifer Little described the storm as a sudden burst of intense rain and wind, lasting only a few minutes but leaving behind significant damage.
Residents of the Cedarhurst neighbourhood expressed their sadness and shock at the tragic events. Jeff Wunder remarked, “It’s a sad day for the community. Him and his dog, it’s just heartbreaking.”
